Meet Menachem and ronit
Ronit, Menachem, Raphi, and Zev moved to Holliswood thirteen years ago and became the first shul members to live in the same zip code as the Young Israel of Holliswood. Their close proximity to the shul is useful for various Farber escapades; while some use it to get to davening on time, others use it to host convenient breakaway shofar and ping pong tournaments.
Ronit served as the Youth Co-Chair for ten years. No children were lost (for very long) under her leadership. Her favorite part of the job was when leaders would ask for letters of recommendation; she would have them (or their parents) write the letters themselves and then she’d simply sign them. Somehow, that option wasn't available when this dinner bio was due (and ChatGPT failed miserably). She supposedly did other things during her tenure too, and she now serves as a Vice President of the shul, where she presumably does some stuff.
Menachem works hard and plays hard. He also blows a mean back up shofar. He reportedly bribed his way to a coveted Kiddush Club VP (or VIP?) position with his hard salami back in the day. Now, resting on his laurels, he contributes only his occasional presence and consumption
Menachem and Ronit are incredibly proud of their boys. Raphi is currently in his first year at Binghamton University studying mechanical engineering, and Zev is a junior at MTA. Though both boys dorm at their respective schools (to ensure they spend as little time with their parents as possible), they love being part of the Holliswood community when they are in town. Whether they are performing in the shpiel, davening for the amud, giving a shiur, or helping out, Raphi and Zev feel as much a part of the community as the adults in the family.
Ronit and Menachem are honored to be sharing billing with the Meyers—at least one of them easily being the coolest person to ever live in Holliswood.
Meet Danny and Elaine
Danny Meyers first arrived in Holliswood in 1993 and has been part of the neighborhood ever since—some even say he’s Holliswood royalty. Easygoing, fun to be around, and always ready to help, he’s the guy the shul can count on for anything—from building the sukkah to kashering pots and utensils before Pesach to helping set up the weekly Shabbos kiddish. The last couple of years Danny has taken on the fun task of handling the high holiday seating charts. When he’s not volunteering, Danny is usually on a golf course, playing deep into the winter and as often as he possibly can—in weather that makes most people question his sanity. He’s also very proud of his hole‑in‑one on 9/1/24, and he’s more than happy to tell you about it.
Elaine brings a remarkable blend of strength, compassion, and dedication to everything she does. A United States Army veteran, a retired NYC EMT, and a 9/11 first responder, she has spent her life serving others—both in uniform and in the community. Her commitment is unwavering: she’s the person who will help anyone, anytime, even at her own expense. A lifelong vegetarian and devoted animal lover, she has a soft spot for every creature she meets—which explains a lot about the current state of their home .
Danny and Elaine joined the shul in 2018 and immediately became deeply involved. Elaine serves on multiple committees and also leads the shul’s security—a role she handles with her signature mix of warmth, competence, and “don’t try me” . One can usually find Elaine in the shul kitchen Shabbat mornings helping prepare for kiddish.
Together, Danny and Elaine are part of the behind‑the‑scenes crew that keeps the community running smoothly week after week. The Meyers bring warmth, humor, dedication, and genuine love for the community to everything they do. They are especially honored to be sharing this night with their good friends, Ronit & Menachem Farber, and are grateful to be part of a shul that truly feels like home.
