A Message from Our President:

 

After my early years in Glens Falls, NY, my family moved to Queens so my sister and I could attend Yeshiva Dov Revel.
After a brief stint at MTA, and armed with a NYC High School Equivalency Diploma, I went to the newly-established Touro College, which prepared me well for the rigors of NYU Medical School (unfortunately before they abolished tuition), and where I spent 10 years in post-graduate training to become a Gastroenterologist.
Lots of Mazal allowed me to marry Rena during that period, and B"H we have 4 wonderful children who have married equally wonderful spouses, and we are blessed with a loving and devoted family.
A Founding Partner of Queens Endoscopy Ambulatory Surgery Center (on Union Tpke and Utopia Pkwy), I was Assistant Director of Gastroenterology and the GI Fellowship at N.Y Hospital of Queens for 10 years, and am an Assistant Clinical Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College.
I have the dubious distinction, along with several other people in the community, to serve as your President for several terms, the last being 20 years ago. I must have forgotten about that period when I was approached this time around!  Being your President has nothing to do with kavod or hubris, but is founded on a deep sense of responsibility to the institution of our wonderful Shul, as well as to all the people who make this such a great community in which to live and raise our children.
I look forward to working closely with Rabbi Taub, the Board and all members of the Shul to keep the Young Israel of Holliswood a vital and vibrant focal point for our families, and encourage you to take leadership roles as we prepare for the future.
